Let us cut your cornice kits
to length for you!

As explained in the discussions for each of our cornice kit styles, the sections that are glued together are 16" or 24" in length. Most times the length of the opening plus the overlap on each end results in a desired length that is not a multiple of 16" or 24", requiring one of the pieces to be cut to the appropriate length. Also, if you choose to replace the 5" brackets with 3" brackets, then the End Caps need to be shortened by 2".

View our that walks you through the process of creating your cornice, from opening the box to installing it on the wall, and everything in between. One of the steps that the video explains is how to cut the cornice pieces. The process that you would follow is to:
  • Cut the pieces with something like a drywall saw, a hack saw, an electric knife, or a utility knife.
  • Regardless of how careful you are, the cut will not be smooth, flat, and straight; it needs to be smooth, flat and straight in order to have a good bond when glued.
  • After the piece is cut, stand the piece that you will be using upright on the smooth end, so that the rough end is facing upward.
  • Cover the rough end with aluminum foil.
  • Using your heated electric iron, pat the aluminum foil to melt the styrofoam flat, smooth, and straight.
While this is a fairly simple process, you may not wish to try this on your own, so why not let us cut your cornice kits to length for you!

For Cornice Kits With 5" or 3" brackets, Your Price is only $2.00, to have us cut them for you for either Outside & Inside Mount Cornices. What we do for you is:
  • Cut the identified pieces
  • Return the cut pieces to the box, marking them to which cornice they go to
  • Return the scrap pieces to the box, marking them as scrap (so you don't accidentally use them)
  • Mark the box containing the cut pieces and which cornice they go to
